MTN Hottseat Terms & Conditions

1. Background

  1.1 MTN Hottseat (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”) is a service for Scancom PLC (“MTN”) customers.

   1.2 All customers who participate in the Service warrant that they have carefully read and fully understood these Terms and Conditions.

   1.3 By accessing the Service, the customer agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Definitions 

Š      MTN Hottseat is an interactive quiz/trivia game which MTN Customers can play via web, wap or a mobile app through a daily, weekly or monthly subscription plan.

Š      WAP means Wireless Application Protocol and provides means for users to access content over WAP browsers.

Š      The Hottseat Web can be accessed from any HTML5 enabled browser.[GAA[G-CS1] [HS[G-M2] 

Š      The Hottseat Mobile App is an application that can be downloaded and installed from an applicable[GAA[G-CS3] [HS[G-M4]  Mobile Device on Android only.

3. Participation

3.1 MTN Hottseat is an interactive quiz/trivia game which customers can play via the wap portal or the web link: or the app (available on Play Store) on daily/weekly/monthly subscription model.

3.2 MTN Hottseat uses a Fifteen (15) Question Interactive Trivia Game Show format to challenge and engage users who sit on the Hottseat.

Participants then accumulate points when they answer the questions correctly.


3.3 The game is open to both postpaid and prepaid customers on MTN. 

3.4 An individual can only participate in this service by being a customer of MTN with a validly registered SIM card or having ported their existing mobile number to the MTN network (the porting process must have been completed before the commencement date of this Service).
3.5   To begin, Participants must subscribe to play the game through one of the following ways:

Š      Download the app from Play store


3.6 Participants must register an account using their existing social media account or sign-up with their personal details to create a new MTN Hottseat account.


3.7 Participants must then choose and activate either a DAILY (50 pesewas per Day), WEEKLY (3 Cedis per Week) or MONTHLY (7 Cedis per Month) subscription package via AIRTIME or MTN Mobile Money.

3.8 Subscriptions are AUTO-RENEWED upon expiry per the subscription package chosen by the customer.


3.9 Participants can also make in-app purchases using accumulated points, airtime or MTN MoMo.

3.10 Participants play to accumulate points. During ‘happy hours’ or promo periods, players may redeem their points for Prizes which will be communicated to subscribers on the service.

3.11   Participants can play an unlimited number of times during their subscription period.


3.12 To deactivate the service, access the menu to un-subscribe from the service portal or dial *175# to manage your subscriptions.


4. Redeeming Accumulated Points on Instant Promo

4.1 Participants must play the Instant Promo to be able to redeem accumulated points.

4.2 The current prizes redeemable is listed in the table below:

4.3     Airtime and Data Prizes will be instantly redeemable.

4.4     Airtime or Data redeemed cannot be transferred or exchanged.

4.5 Airtime and Data redeemed will be valid for 3 days only.

4.6 Participants can redeem accumulated points for either airtime or data only and not both once in a day.

4.7     The balance for the accumulated Instant Promo points will reset to zero (0) each time after redeeming any of the packages.


5. Limitation of liability                                                             
5.1 MTN accepts no responsibility whatsoever for and without limitation, any error, omission, interruption, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure when it is not under its direct control.

5.2 MTN shall make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that the benefits promoted as being available to members will actually be available as represented. However, MTN does not guarantee or warrant that such benefits shall always be available. MTN advises members to check availability of the desired benefits prior to redemption of the said benefits.

5.3 If for any reason any aspect of this Service is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of MTN which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this offer, MTN may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the Service. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of MTN and which prevents MTN from complying with these Terms and Conditions, MTN shall not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation. 

5.4 MTN reserves the right to suspend the Service temporarily or permanently for legal, regulatory and for operational reasons (e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades) whenever it is deemed necessary. MTN undertakes where possible to restore the Service as soon as practicable after any temporary suspension period. MTN shall not be liable for any claims, losses or injuries whatsoever the Customer may suffer as a result any such suspension. 

6. Disclaimer of Warranties 
6.1 MTN makes no warranty, implied or express, that any part of the service will be uninterrupted and error-free.  

6. 2 Neither MTN nor any of its directors, employees, agents or suppliers shall accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any Customer for participating in the Service. 

7. Miscellaneous  
7.1 Any MTN Customer's continued participation in MTN Hottseat constitutes the member's acceptance of any changes to these Terms and Conditions. Participants are responsible for remaining knowledgeable as to any changes that MTN may make to these Terms and Conditions. MTN will endeavor to make available the Terms and Conditions and any changes thereto on the MTN website –

7.2 If MTN or any Partner improperly denies a participant any benefits that the participant ought to have earned under the Service, the participant's exclusive remedy shall be the issuance of the improperly denied benefits by MTN, if available, or such other reasonable, alternative and comparable benefits as determined by MTN. In the event of any of the aforementioned improper denials, the liability of MTN shall be limited to the value of the benefits concerned.

7.3 Personal data relating to participants in this Service that may be processed and used for purposes of the Service shall be used in accordance with applicable Data Protection Laws.

7.4 MTN reserves the right to terminate, suspend, cancel or amend the offer, these Terms and Conditions, reward structure and participation of any MTN Customer in the Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on the MTN website and other online platforms and shall be binding on a Customer. MTN will use all endeavors to minimize any effect on the consumer in order to avoid disappointment.

7.5 In the event of dispute regarding the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions, conduct and all other matters relating to the Service the decision of MTN Management team shall be final and without appeal.

7.6 These Terms and Conditions will remain in full force and effect for as long as the Service lasts (not taking into account temporary suspensions of the Service for operational reasons, e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades).

7.7 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana
